LinuxTag setup and first day
So the first day of the four days of Gentoo at LinuxTag is almost over. It’s a very exciting event, talking to users, visitors, and devs, and in the end we could even convince some unhappy Ubuntu users to try Gentoo. Here’s some pictures of what happened so far.
- This is the Gentoo booth before we set up all our stuff
- .. and that’s how it looked on the first day.
- We’re running on a small atom, will it handle Windows on VirtualBox?
- Remember the time rbu forgot to add ext2 support to the kernel?
- Ohh, there’s that other outdated filesystem as well
- Now it booted!
- Some bugs need hands-on fixing
- We’re hanging up the Gentoo word cloud
- Big Larry is watching
- Grobian fixing some bugs in Portage Prefix on Windows Server
- Gentoo booth
- USE=”larry purple” emerge button
Pictures were taken by Florian, amne and fauli. The word cloud poster is by sping and me.

Awesome! Ya’ll have made Gentoo look great this year.
I like how, unlike SCALE, your booth is designed to welcome people in, instead of a solid “wall” of a table that forces visitors to stay on the other side, which to my mind builds a kind of artificial separation.
How many visitors have you guys had, so far? Anyone keeping track?
Excellent post, guys!
@nightmorph: No numbers, but we are quite busy and at least three developers are at the booth all the time plus some enthuasiasts. You enter the exhibition hall and we are the first booth on the left…no possibility to miss us. Robert did an awesome job in organising all this and our booth is just great.
Dudes.. This. Is. Awesome.
We’re going to steal your artwork for foss.in/09
